Garden roof is garden that placed in roof, especially concrete plate. Garden roof has function to control high pollution, increase air quality, reduce the sound, give the other touch to the house and more. Design a roof garden needs esthetic and functional view. At least we need 3 points to noticed when building garden roof.

• Supporter structure

Garden roof usually is supported by concrete plate. The plate, block, column and foundation are supporter structure that must have enough strength so the garden will not collapse.You can make a garden with not too heavy burden. Choose light plant like grass or groundcover plants. Minimize the hard element usage like big stone and chair. Make estimation if your garden in the wet condition that every 2 cm of wet ground, the garden weight can reach 2 times of its dry weight.

• Plant choice

Choose the plant that suitable with garden location and sunshine. If your garden get the sunlight continually, you can choose bougenville or euphorbia. When planting, don’t release the polybag, it is enough to make holes in polybag’s surface so your plant will adapt with new ground.

• Garden structure construction

Garden structure construction has relation with drainage, waterproof layer, water and lamp installation. Drainage system is handled after concrete plate. This system has function to throw away water absorption by the ground. Make the drainage spots that suitable with garden’s width. At least, prepare 2 drainage spots.

Waterproofing layer is very important so the water will not be absorbed to the building. Put the waterproofing layer before ground. Waterproof layer can be in the form of paint or geotextile layer. Geotextile layer can be replaced with plastic sheet. Put the water faucet that usually at 50 cm from land surface.
